BBC launches virtual replay feature

Posted 16/06/2004

BBC Sport has embraced the latest in online technology by adding a 'Virtual Replay' feature to its Euro 2004 website.

The new attraction offers visitors a chance to replay an animated reconstruction of all the goals scored at the Euro 2004 Championships.

The site, bbc.co.uk/euro2004, provides users with the opportunity to view goals through a variety of angles, including allowing the visitor the chance of seeing the game from the perspective of other players on the field.

Commenting on the development. Ben Gallop, editor of BBC Sport Interactive said: "Our new Virtual Replay is the next step forward for football analysis - and one that plays to the strengths of the internet.

"It offers a combination of computer game graphics with all the best action from Euro 2004. We're giving the audience the chance to play the part of TV director."© DeHavilland Information Services plc
