Telstra launches 'youth' search enginePosted 05/07/2004
Australian telecoms giant, Telstra, is set to launch a new youth-focussed search engine, the Herald Sun reports.
The search engine will be used to revamp Telstra's Sensis operation, which owns the Yellow and White Pages telephone directory businesses.
Greg Ellis, a general manager at Sensis, has revealed that the search engine will be aimed at those aged between 15 and 28.
The launch of the new site is due to be announced at a press conference on Tuesday 6 July.
Sensis, which acquired the assets of Internet search company Looksmart earlier this year, has been embarking on a multi million dollar advertising campaign to raise the companies profile, and the search engine is latest part of this drive.
The company has also revealed to the Herald Sun that the search strategy will link up elements of online, voice, wireless and print, using Sensis' database of advertisers with the White and Yellow Pages as well as the 21nline Citisearch and Whereis services and the Trading Post. © DeHavilland Information Services plc
