Microsoft unveils new search toolPosted 30/07/2004
Microsoft has demonstrated its state of the art search tool, featuring a number of innovations intended to significantly boost search optimisation.
The proto-type system is an MSN toolbar that operates as an add-on to the Internet Explorer browser.
It works by searching not only the Internet, but the user's hard drive as well, displaying all results on one page, using a prgramme called Lookout acquired by Microsaoft earlier this month.
It is hoped that this will make searches more comprehensive overall, while making users aware of relevant information already held.
Reports state that search results for a variety of items such as e-mail, e-mail attachments, pictures and documents, were returned nearly instantaneously.
"We will be able to search beyond the Web in a very fast fashion," commented Microsoft vice president Yusuf Mehdie according to Reuters.
"We have made a lot of progress," she added. © DeHavilland Information Services plc
