HighBeam signs LookSmart dealPosted 01/09/2004
HighBeam Research, the provider of online research services, has signed a new agreement with LookSmart to make more than one million articles from its archive accessible via LookSmart's FindArticles service.
The HighBeam Library archive includes 32 million articles and images from more than 2,800 newswires and newspapers; leading business, consumer and industry magazines and journals; transcripts; images; and reference sources going back as far as 23 years.
Under the new deal, HighBeam LookSmart users can search and view article abstracts from the HighBeam Research Library archive for free, and they can sign up or a free trial to view full-text articles and use the array of research tools available to HighBeam Research members.
"We are pleased to be able to provide so many additional high quality publications," said Kevin Krim, vice president of LookSmart's web properties.
"The partnership with HighBeam Research enhances FindArticles' position as one of the Web's most popular search services for finding research-quality articles, and introduces the millions of LookSmart users to HighBeam Research."
The HighBeam Research engine aims to fill the gap between search engines and high-end information resources.
