Google to test Froogle in BritainPosted 05/10/2004
Internet search firm Google is to test its new shopping-based directory service in Britain.
The 'Froogle' service, as it has been named, provides a range of different products under a categorised directory of electronic and other retail sector goods.
Setting itself up against the likes of Yahoo Shopping and Kelkoo, Froogle will seek to capitalise on Google's high profile.
Using Google's powerful search technology the service seeks out firms selling specific items online, before transferring the user to the respective site.
Meanwhile, the firm confirmed that it would also be continuing tests of its Catalogs service, which provides a searchable central database of hundreds of mail order catalogues.
